What is Jeju Furey's policy on donating to other charitable causes?

The answer to this question has two parts; please read both.

(1) The funds that Jeju Furey raises are done under the auspices that the money will be donated to the families that Jeju Furey sponsors (see home page) - unless otherwise indicated in the event description (see PhotoHunt and Swing BVB4). Therefore, Jeju Furey cannot and does not have the right to re-direct those funds to another cause, however noble and in need the other cause may be. Jeju Furey has a responsibility to its donors to ensure the money is received by the intended receiver.

However,

(2) Jeju Furey encourages those who are interested in organizing an event for a cause other than Jeju Furey. We will be as cooperative as we can. This is, after all, how the organization originally got started and a major part of its spirit.. Rather than ask other organizations for funds, Daniel Nabben, Jessie Dishaw, and Anj Schroeder found their own ways to raise money and organized their own events. Sachin Mahajan did the same for Debbie Peachy, and others for other causes.

'BVB across KOREA' and 'ULTIMATE FRISBEE across KOREA' are both events initiated by Daniel Nabben, but nonetheless encouraged local groups to raise money for local charities in different locations across the country.

3. ACCOMMODATIONS: 숙박
Most people bring tents and camp. Some get rooms at the nearby pensions. Here are some recommended places to check out:

Why is the clinic only open to (Korean) women?

Among the demographics that get recruited to play in the bvb tournaments, recruiting Korean women is the most difficult. Their rate of dropping out of teams leading up to a tournament is also the highest. The most common reasons for them to decline participation are:
-lack of experience
-lack of skill (and/or knowledge of the techniques)
-lack of height
-lack of confidence
-lack of familiarity with other participants
-fear of embarrassing one's self

those are among a slew of other preconceptions, many false - including the necessity to wear a bikini or speak English - which turn them away from the sport in general and the event in particular.

So this clinic is designed to break down as many of those barriers as possible and to provide for a comfortable and socially-safe environment. 

The growth of the tournament is greatly dependent on the ability to change the mindset of this demographic in particular.

(1) BORROWING PLAYERS 선수 임대:

Only the registered players are allowed to play. Rosters cannot exceed or be less than six players. Teams must have 3 girls and 3 guys (no more or less than 3 girls, and no more or less than 3 guys). In the event of an injury, or an otherwise inability to play, a team must borrow a player of the same sex from another team (i.e. a player among the other registered players). The borrowing cannot take place without consent for the lending team and the opponent for the game in question.

오직 등록된 선수들만 출전 가능합니다. 출전 명단은 6명을 넘을 수도 없고, 모자라서도 안 됩니다. 팀은 항상 남자 셋, 여자 셋이어야 합니다(여자, 남자 모두 3명보다 많거나 적을 수 없음). 부상 혹은 다른 이유로 출전할 수 없는 경우, 반드시 다른 팀의 같은 성별의 선수(등록되어있는 선수들 중)를 임대해야 합니다. 빌려주는 팀의 동의가 없거나 대전 상대 팀의 이의가 있을 때는 임대할 수 없습니다.


(2) REFFING and SCOREKEEPING 심판과 기록원:

We referee our own games. At every game, there will be a third team acting as scorekeeper AND referee. It is up to this third party to settle any disputes, therefore it is important they pay attention not only to the score but whether the ball is in or out, etc. (NOTE: For Sundays game we will have volunteers doing scorekeeping when necessary. These volunteers are not refs. They should not be asked to make judgements on any calls and will most probably not know the rules and will need to be POLITELY told which team just scored a point. Please have patience - many will be students with limited English abilities and are, after all, volunteers.)

우리 모두가 스스로의 경기를 심판합니다. 매 경기마다 제3의 팀이 심판과 기록원의 역할을 하게 됩니다. 어떤 논쟁들을 처리하는 것은 제3의 팀에 달려있으므로 단지 점수만이 아니라 공이 들어왔는지 나갔는지 등과 같은 것에 주의를 기울이는 것이 중요합니다. (NOTE:일요일 경기의 경우 필요에 의해 자원 봉사자들이 기록원 역할을 할 것입니다. 이 자원 봉사자들은 심판이 아닙니다. 그들은 대부분 규칙을 모를 수도 있기 때문에 어떤 판정을 요구하지 마시고, 어떤 팀이 막 득점했는지 친절하게 이야기 해 주세요. 제발 참을성 있게 행동해 주세요. - 대부분의 자원 봉사자는 영어가 능숙하지 않는 학생들입니다.


(3) GARBAGE, RECYCLING, and PETS 쓰레기, 재활용품 그리고 애완 동물:

We need to SEPARATE all of our garbage and recyclables and strive to leave the beach in better condition than we found it. Your team will be provided garbage bags to do so. Also, there are signs up prohibiting pets. No pets, please. 

모든 쓰레기와 재활용품은 모두 분리 수거되어야 하고 해변은 우리가 사용하기 전보다 더 깔끔한 상태로 떠날 수 있도록 애써야 합니다. 여러분은 팀당 분리 수거하실 수 있는 쓰레기 봉투들을 받으실 것입니다.
해변에는 애완 동물 금지 표시가 있습니다. 제발 애완 동물을 데리고 오지 마세요.


(4) NO SMOKING on the beach 해변에서 금연:

There is a sign up prohibiting smoking. Jeju Furey will provide containers at each court as ash trays that can be taken above the dunes for smoke breaks and returned court-side.

해변에는 금연 표시가 있습니다.  제주 퓨리에서는 각 경기장 옆 모래 사장 위에 담배를 피고 돌아오셔서 꽁초를 담으실 재떨이를 준비할 것입니다.


(5) NO BBQs on the sand or boardwalk 모래 혹은 나무 인도 위에서 바베큐 금지:

All BBQs must be done in the wooded area.
