I joined because Dan Nabben signed me up and didn't tell me.

my last six months in the country were spent in Seoul, and every single day I found myself wondering why the hell I wasn't back in Jeju..

Listen more than you speak. Don't eat dog. Do eat horse. Buy a scooter and a snorkel. Call friends back home from time to time. Call your family often. Learn a lot.

After spending a lot of my formative years in Korea, the transition to life back home was difficult, and it was very hard for a while to relate to people back here who have never done an ESL tour of duty. But you learn to adjust, just as we did there, and things begin to seem normal again. But the wonderful thing is that even after you settle back into a life here, you will always be a member of that strange and wonderful tribe of teachers and travellers, and for the rest of your life you will have a network of dear friends scattered around the globe, and you know you'll see them again someday because the world is a smaller place for folks like us, and the travel bug never goes away.

It all grew out of a friend who wanted his friend to be remembered, and that's beautiful.

Clambering around on Troy's shoulders literally all damn night, getting the nets set up for BVB 1, and somehow having a whale of a time doing it.
