NFL Fantasy : 2013 Regular Season

On September 5th, Furey kicked off its first NFL Regular Season Fantasy Pool. For the following 17 weeks, 15 participants would have pick the winners of each NFL game as well as wrap their heads around Troy MacLellan’s weekly Bonus Point Question. The lead changed seven times over the course of the season with Alexis Oesterle, a last-minute entrant in the pool as well as the only woman, being in the first-place position more for more weeks than any other. That said, with only one point separating the top four poolies going into the final week, and only two points separating the next five, and with as many as five bonus points available, it was anybody’s game.

Alexis Oesterle 152,   Derek Martin 151,   Justin Brydges 151, and   Terry Erickson 151

were the main contenders for first place but for

Daniel Nabben 148,   Jason Reed 147,   Ryan Brown 146,  Michael Daum 146, and  Tom Summers 146,

there was still a mathematically possibility that they could leap frog everyone else. But when the dust-settled after the 256th regular season game, Derek’s Martin 14 correct picks out of 16 were too good for the rest and he took home the championship, climbing all the way up from second-last place in Week 1.

Congratulations to all the participants and we look forward to seeing you all and more next September.

Special thanks to Sachin Mahajan for helping to put this event together.
